Facebook Rolling Out Stories to Brands

Not that long ago, Facebook implemented the ‘stories’ feature. This feature is essentially a copy of the very popular stories options on Snapchat and Instagram. If you weren’t aware that stories even existed on Facebook, don’t worry, it seems you are in the majority. For whatever reason, stories never took off on Facebook at all. It is essentially ignored by virtually everyone on the social network.

So, in an attempt to kick start it and get some people using it, Facebook has announced that they are opening it up to brands over the next few days. Stories will allow users (and now brands) to post videos and other things to their wall, which will only stay up for 24 hours. On other sites, this is a great way to keep people in the loop on things and ensure content doesn’t get stale.

This latest attempt to push the stories feature on Facebook is after the previous effort, allowing users to post stories from Instagram onto Facebook automatically, failed entirely.

While it seems unlikely that this is going to do much to boost popularity, some brands may benefit from using it. Over the next few weeks, the stories feature will roll out to everyone on Facebook, including both the Android and iOS apps.
