In-App Mobile Video Ads See Dramatic Growth in Q2 2017

In-App mobile video ads have seen some very dramatic growth in the second quarter of 2017 according to the latest reports. This particular type of ad is on pace to generate $9 million in 2017, up from $5.6 million in 2016. The growth will continue to be strong for the next several years, on pace to hit $16.69 million in 2020.

The report looked at more than 1.5 trillion impressions and found that brand spending on these types of ads went up by 142% from the first to the second quarter of the year. This is an increase of over 900% in the rate of growth from 2016.

A lot of the growth was generated from rewarded video. This is when a game or other app will incentivize users to watch a video advertisement in order to get some type of in-app benefit. Many advertisers love this option because the viewers are typically a captive audience that is looking to watch the video and get their reward right away.

In-app advertising in general is a growing in popularity due to the fact that so many people are spending so much time on mobile apps. In fact, the ongoing growth in popularity of apps is causing mobile web browsing time to go down in comparison to the app options.

Overall, the mobile video ads in general, and in-app options specifically, are a great option for anyone looking to get people to view their ads. In addition, marketers will have great opportunities if they produce apps that can have this option built in.
