Karl Steinborn Death

by Pace Lattin2016-05-12

At this time I ask for everyone to be thoughtful and understanding about what has happened.

I have been asked to editorialize about this, the ongoing investigation, and at this point I have zero desire to.

We have removed the previous articles for the time being out of respect for his family and himself. Despite anything else, this is a tragedy that shouldn’t have happened, and he is someone’s son, friend, family.

That means at this time we need to take that into consideration and be compassionate and kind.

I was Karl’s pastor for a short time. I took over at the rural church where his father had been pastor. His father died when Karl was about 9 years old. I arrived about three months after his dad’s death and had to live in a rental unit until Karl, his mom, and siblings vacated the church’s parsonage. About a month after I arrived, I was at the church office and heard crying behind the building. Karl had climbed high in a tree and his brother and sister were trying to coax him down. He was crying and yelling out, “I want my dad…I want my dad.” Karl was a pleasant, little kid when I knew him. But he had a tough childhood without his father. I’m very sad to here about this. Requiescat in pace.

Karl was a good young man and always made people laugh and smile. regardless of anything he was caught up in legally- he loved my best friend with all his heart and made her feel like a queen at all times. this was a huge blow and tragedy that should never have happened and it makes me feel sick and beyond devestated and disgusted. i am sorry Karl. we all are.
