Interactive Advertising Bureau Welcomes Fraudlogix

The Interactive Advertising Bureau is a membership organization of media and technology companies, which are involved with interactive marketing and advertising.  The 600+ members of the organization work to analyze best practices in the digital marketing world, and make recommendations to fellow members, as well as those outside the group.  Their primary goal is industry-wide growth and transparency.

Fraudlogix is a good fit with this group, as they are dedicated to the goal of eliminating fraudulent traffic, which is considered by many to be the plague of digital marketing.  Their mission “to identify, understand and and raise awareness of the issue of non-intentional traffic, and to offer insight and recommended solutions to the digital advertising industry.” This is part of the IAB’s Traffic of Good Intent task force, which Fraudlogix will be a part of.

The CEO of Fraudlogix, Hagai Shecter, said, “By sharing some insights into what we’ve learned about the latest bot threats, suspicious online behaviors and hacking tactics used by cyber criminals, we hope to be a contributing force to the IAB community.”

This move to help fight ad and traffic fraud is just the latest of many so far in 2014 throughout the digital marketing community.  It seems that 2014 may go down in history as the year that the online marketing community finally started to take the threat of ad and traffic fraud seriously.

It seems to me that the industry as a whole is finally making major strides.  There are multiple different groups, organizations and individual companies that are pushing back against the multi-billion dollar ad fraud issue.  Fraud has long been the elephant in the room for internet marketers, and at long last, there is light being shown on it.  It is unfortunate that it took public attention from outside news organizations and major brands to prompt this type of action, however, it is a good sign that ad fraud is finally being taken seriously.
