Why Are People Freaking Out Over Starbucks Pink Drink on Instagram?

It’s been a great week for Starbucks lovers! On the heels of the coffee giant’s announcement of their new Vanilla Sweet Cream Cold Brew and Nitro Cold Brew, one creative barista has blessed us with a delightfully bright “Pink Drink” that can now be found on their [not so] secret menu. Instagram has been going nuts with this drink, as if its a new religion of sorts.

Comparable to a lighter variation of strawberry milk or the Asian yogurt drink Calpico, the new #PinkDrink has grown so popular, it possesses it’s own hashtag that has taken Instagram and Twitter by storm. The iced beverage simply combines the chain’s Strawberry Acai Refresher with coconut milk, and even includes a hint of caffeine thanks to some green coffee extract. Perfect for summer, the creamy Pink Drink also comes with fresh strawberries or blackberries—the choice is yours

Other summery items on Starbucks’ secret menu include a Key Lime Pie Frappuccino made with Cool Lime Refresher and pumps of white mocha and vanilla syrup, while a Mango Frappuccino can be derived from a Vanilla Bean Frappuccino that includes one less scoop of vanilla bean powder and a few extra pumps of mango syrup. Mini 10-ounce versions of any Frapp flavor are also available throughout the warm season.

If you’re craving something a little more sophisticated, the Seattle-based coffee chain will be rolling out a nitrogen-infused cold brew across 500 stores in major cities by the end of August. Since we’re fans of the secret menu and anything loaded with sugar, we’ll stick with the Pink Drink—and maybe even add some whipped cream.
