New Study gives Breakdown of iPhone Models in US

When marketing to mobile devices it is important to have a good idea of what types of devices are out there.  Thanks to the new Consumer Intelligence Research Partners report, we can have an excellent breakdown of the exact models of iPhones in the US.  This can be used to help target specific devices with ads that will look and function the best.

Currently, the most popular iPhone model in the US is the iPhone 6.  Out of the 110 million iPhones being used, about 62 million of them are the iPhone 6 or later. If trends from the past continue, most of the people who have the iPhone 5C and 5S’s will likely upgrade to the iPhone 7 when it comes out.  This will presumably be sometime in the fall of this year.   About 35 million people still use the iPhone 5C and 5S.

The latest version of the popular Smartphone, the 6S and 6S Plus have only roughly 15 million phones, though this number will continue to grow up to the release of the 7 and well beyond.

Currently about 80% of adults in the United States have a Smartphone of some type, which leaves only a fairly small number of people to target as new users.  Apple will need to push out upgrades and attempt to steal customers from Android in order to get the growth they desire.

When it comes to marketers, however, having this information at hand will help you to make the best decisions regarding your mobile strategies. You can see the full report HERE.
