YouTube Passes Facebook in Unique Visits

Facebook is undoubtedly a powerful tool for marketers to drive traffic and build relationships with potential customers. According to new data from Complete Pro, however, YouTube is the new king of social platforms (in terms of unique visitors).

The new data that has been released for June of 2014 shows that while Facebook had 166,397,314 unique visits, YouTube had 167,848,349.  While it is still a very close race, and they may go back and forth from month to month, it does show just how powerful YouTube is in its own right.

Of course, everyone knows that YouTube is a huge site, and they even know that video is an effective way to share a message.  Unfortunatly, many marketers use YouTube primarily as a hosting site, where they can post their videos to be embedded on their own pages or even into Facebook.

In reality, however, the savvy marketer should also be pushing YouTube optimization so they can get followers and traffic directly from the site.  Over the past few years, YouTube has really become a social network in its own right, and marketers who don’t realize this are really missing out.

Smart marketers are putting as much (or more) effort into getting friends and followers on YouTube as they are on Facebook or Twitter, and it will really pay off for them in the long run.
