Major Mailing ESP Onpoint Shuts Down

Kobeni, the mulch-faceted marketing company, has announced that they are closing their email-service provider (ESP), Onpoint, in response to pressure from SpamHaus. SpamHaus is an offshore, secretive organization whose influence can often determine if a company continues to do business in the realm of email marketing or not. In this case, they blame SpamHaus for their decision to shut down, but also note in their letter an interesting accusation: that their clients were attempting to hack into their system for some reason.

The letter is below:

Dear Clients,

We apologize for any down time you may have experienced since Friday. Last week was very challenging for the Kobeni Team. As you may have noticed SpamHaus has been targeting Kobeni and their clients since April. Additionally, we have had pressures from our own clients that have attempted to hack into our system. This is very difficult for us, as we have always treated our clients as family. Fortunately, the hacking attempts were unsuccessful; however, this poses risks that we are no longer willing to take.

We regret to inform you that the Onpoint Mail platform will no longer be accessible to all users as of June 24, 2013. Due to pressures from SpamHaus, we have decided to cease the ESP operations, succumbing to SpamHaus’s immense and unrelenting pressure.

We apologize to all of our dedicated clients, as we have appreciated your business. We are truly sad to see our relationship end. Unfortunately, there are those in our industry who attempt to bring down organizations like ours. We wish you all well in your future endeavors. Our accounting team will be working to adjust all invoices for June, 2013 and will be refunding all clients, dating back to June 20. 2013.
