ClickBooth Leaving DirectTrack for Cake Marketing

Performance Marketing Insider has learned that ClickBooth, the mega-CPA network, has signed an agreement with Cake Marketing to become their affiliate CPA tracking system. They are currently being run on DirectTrack, owned by Digital River, and have been almost since their inception.

We reached out to ClickBooth for comment and a spokesperson told us that this was part of a 2-3 year process in which they considered all solutions. They commented that, “In our performance tests with Cake over the past 6 months they have been able to handle the billions of impressions and hundreds of millions of clicks we have thrown at them to test our current scale as the leading CPA network in the space.”

This comes at an unfortunate time, on the first day of ADTECH, the premiere conference for interactive advertising and marketing. Just a little over a month ago, DirectTrack suffered a massive outage, and that news become the buzz during LeadsCon.  This will definitely raise a lot of questions about DirectTracks ability to compete in the marketplace that is now crowded by newer companies such as LinkTrust, HasOffers, Effectus, Cake and HitPath – all which are perceived to have more updated technology than the decade-plus old DirectTrack system.

  1. Does not surprise me. DT is a dying breed. I do not see them staying in business too much longer. Too much comp that is way superior as far as technology goes. Not slamming them for the outage, bc technology is technology and it is gonna screw up sooner or later. But their unwillingness to keep up with the market is gonna be the downfall of their platform. Warm up the bus or do some massive improvements. Just my two cents.

    Kudos to ClickBooth! Can not believe they waited this long to change platforms to be honest. As for the Direct Track team, if you are reading this prepare to head to the cornfields. I would start looking for new jobs bc I am sure the Click Booth smack gonna weigh heavy on Digital River ability to pay its employees, thus let eh firing begin. If I were you all I would be seeking new jobs. Just a heads up as I wish you all well!

  2. I can’t think of any cases of a network moving TO DirectTrack. DT is dying for sure, and it’s been this way for a year or two. The competition is just crushing them.

  3. DT is basically 1-2 more clients away from becoming even more obsolete than they already are. You only hear their name when it’s something negative.

  4. You guys all make me laugh. Especially you pace. But I get it, traffic pays the bills. So let’s take a look at the facts…clickbooth-FTC equals extreme money problems similar to the copeac shenanigans. They left dt, went to an in house system and shit the bed. Clickbooth built there entire bidness on dt since 2005 and grew it from ricters secrets to millions. They left because they are so broke that 1 year of free service from cake seems rather enticing. Side bet. They are out of bidness in 1 year.

  5. If you do some research, you will find that most large networks that leave DT end up failing quickly or going back to DT. The grass isn’t always greener, so to speak.

    1. Frank, I am curious who has left DT recently and gone back, and is now doing better? Besides Copeac, what large network has crashed and burned after leaving DT? Copeac had different issues besides their platform.
