Twitter Reports 89% of Ad Revenue is Mobile

Twitter has been running into a lot of issues recently, especially in areas of revenue generation and keeping the shareholders happy.  With mobile being the way of the future, however, Twitter may have finally found something that is somewhat positive to report on.

In a recent report from Twitter, it was found that Twitter is getting 89% of their ad revenue from mobile ads.  That is $476.15 million out of $602 Million.  The total revenue is up about 18%, which is not quite as positive as it seems as most investors were hoping for more.  The shares of the company dropped by 9% on this news.

Despite the slip, however, the fact that they are having such a high percentage of their revenue coming from mobile does show that they may be positioned well for the future.  Mobile is rapidly taking over as the primary source of Internet traffic for virtually all types of sites, and nowhere is this truer than on social media sites like Twitter.

The total monthly active users is also up 3% year over year, which is modest growth, but still moving in the right direction.

While Twitter still has a long way to go before they regain the full trust of investors, this may be a good building point that they can start from.
