Ad Dollars Still Flowing to Desktop Video Despite Mobile Dominance

According to research from ZenithOptimedia, most video is being watched on mobile devices, which is really not too surprising given its huge growth over the past couple years.  The dominance of mobile video is expected to continue over the next several years.

Despite this growth, however, the majority of ad spend for digital video is still going to desktop devices.  ZenithOptimedia expects this will shift sometime in 2018 since mobile ad revenue is continuing to grow.

Jonathan Barnard, who is the head of forecasting, said, “Mobile is the dominant platform for consumption, but it won’t become the dominant advertising platform for another two years.”

For marketers, this may mean that there are some very good deals to be had for mobile advertisements.  Anytime there is a high amount of inventory (which there is due to the massive amount of mobile video viewers) and a lower demand, the prices are going to be lower than they should be.

Just like any type of ads, there are many options for video ads.  You can make a video ad, run a banner ad, or just about any other type ad format that your brand desires.  The ad networks are also already in place and easy to use, which makes this a great opportunity for many marketers of all types.
