Mobile Driving More Sales

When it comes to marketing to users, you have to go mobile as much as possible.  The vast majority of users are at least using their mobile devices most of the time, if not exclusively.  Finding out more about the behaviors and opinions of people on their mobile devices is very important, and that was the goal of new research from Opinum Research.  The new report titled, “What’s My Worth? 2015” was commissioned by Millennial Media and is the result of polling over 4000 consumers in four countries.

The research found that while most people don’t like ads on their mobile devices, they do understand and accept the ‘value exchange’ of having ads supporting free apps and content.  79% of people stated that they are ok with this relationship as it is.  72%  said that they expect this and only 3% said they would be willing to pay to have these ads removed.

The following are some other interesting stats from the report:

  • Users on mobile devices remember a product or message from an ad on a mobile device twice as much as on a desktop device.
  • 1/3 consumers report engaging with a mobile ad within the last 12 months on their smart phones.
  • 18% report considering a product or brand that they would not otherwise have because of mobile ads.
  • 13% report saving a page or adding a product to a shopping list because of mobile ads
  • 14% of consumers who click on an ad on a mobile device make a purchase.
  • 43% of people who say they click on mobile ads report that they are more likely to be interested in future advertising from the same company.
  • 48% of people in the study say they would be more interested in mobile ads if they were targeted to their interests.

Overall the report is quite interesting and very helpful to anyone who is using or thinking about using mobile ads or app ads as part of their overall marketing strategy.  If you are interested in seeing the full report, it can be found HERE.
