Cake Releases Whitepaper on Attribution Issues

The SaaS firm, Cake, which specializes in helping performance marketing track, attribute and optimize their digital advertising budgets, has recently released a comprehensive new whitepaper that gives an in depth look at what attribution is, and why performance marketers need to care.  The paper, titled “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to Attribution: Mapping the Customer Journey for Advertisers” goes into great detail to help marketers learn more about how they are getting from first seeing an advertisement to finally making a purchase, and hopefully becoming repeat buyers.

While early on in the online affiliate marketing industry it was fairly simple to see when people made purchases, and how they got there, that has changed dramatically over the past several years.  Today, many people are seeing an ad on a tablet, for example, and then doing some research on their desktop, before finally making a purchase on their phone.

In addition to just looking into the importance of customers using different types of devices to lead to a sale, it also discusses different marketing channels.  Many marketers are learning how a customer may see a display ad on a website, then hear someone talking about the company on social media, and then finally make a purchase after getting an email about it.

The whitepaper will really help you to understand why all performance marketers need to be paying attention to the attribution models available, and take the time to really look at the behavior of their customers.  This data can help lead to more effective campaigns and a more profitable company.
