Four Foolproof Ways to Drive Traffic to Your Affiliate Sales Page

Whether you’re an affiliate marketing newbie or someone who has been around the block a few times, the chances are you know that the lifeblood of this business is traffic.  If you can’t get people to visit your site, you’ll never make a single sale.  If you can drive thousands of targeted viewers, however, it is almost impossible not to make at least a little bit of money.  With that in mind, I’ve put together these four foolproof ways to get traffic to your landing page, so you can start making money.

Now, keep in mind, you want to have a high quality landing page already set up so the traffic will convert into sales.  Without this, you’ll just be wasting time and money getting people to visit your site and browse away.  So, if you don’t already have what you believe is a great landing page that will convert, take a step back and go address that first.

One final thing to mention before diving in, these strategies will work.  Every time.  If you combine a good landing page with any/all of these recommendations, it will be almost impossible to fail (as long as you’re not promoting a crap product, but I consider getting a good product part of setting up a good landing page).  That being said, however, it will take some trial and error, and you certainly won’t get rich overnight.  Heck, you might even lose a bit of money over the first few weeks, but don’t get discouraged.  There is a learning curve, and the best way to figure it out is to dive right in.

Traffic Source #1 – Facebook

I know what you’re thinking, oh great, another social media fan boy pushing Facebook posts as a way to get rich quick, right?  WRONG.  I don’t care if you ever make a post on Facebook or not, I’m talking about Facebook ads here.  Facebook ads give you instant access to over a billion users per day from all over the world.  Their self-directed ad platform allows you to pick exactly who you want to see your ads, and display as many different ads to them as you want.  This is powerful…REALLY powerful.

If you told any of the affiliate marketers that this type of tool existed 10 years ago they would have literally killed you for access to it.  Today, most people just ignore it and look for the next push button get rich quick scheme.  Well, this is it, it really doesn’t get any easier.

Yes, this will cost you some money up front, and yes, you’ll make mistakes and waste some of that money.  All you need to do, however, is start running three or four different ads per day, with a small budget ($5-10 on each ad is more than enough).  Each ad should be different in some way.  The call to action, the colors, the landing page, it doesn’t matter what.   Now, while running the campaigns, keep track of EVERYTHING and see what converts best.  Learn from mistakes, and repeat successes.

Once you’ve got a few ads that have proven to convert well, start scaling up your daily investment on those ads, while continuing to test on the other ads with small dollar amounts.  Over time, you’ll have dozens of ads that allow you to turn $5 into $10 in a very reliable way.  Of course, if you can do that, you can also turn $500 into $1000…Or $5000 into $10,000.  You get the picture.  Do what you have to do to make this work.  I don’t care if you have to go to McDonalds for a month to make some money to invest in this, if you are driven, this will work.

Traffic Source #2 – Pay Per Click (Google)

Whether you use Google or any other PPC ad network, you can choose exactly which search phrases you want your ad to show up on.  This can get a little more expensive, depending on the keywords you’re targeting, but it generally works just like Facebook ads. Invest fairly small amounts at first, then scale it up once you’ve found success.  And remember, you need to ALWAYS be testing.

Due to the higher cost per click (on average) for Google ads over Facebook ads, I’d recommend going the Facebook route first.  Once you’ve got some extra money laying around though, move it over to Google.  Google drives far more traffic, and you can target keywords that are known to convert really well, which means you can often double or even triple your money with each purchase.

Traffic Source #3 – Blog

You should have a blog set up to help drive traffic and build relationships.  This is a much longer term approach, but it can be done at the same time as Facebook or Google ads.  Writing high quality posts, and promoting the blog as much as possible will eventually lead to traffic, which you can then get to sign up for your list, and market to for years to come.  This is one of the most talked about forms of traffic generation, but most people give up on it well before it starts converting.

If you are dedicated to long term success, you really NEED to set up a blog today and keep it updated.  Even if you don’t post every day or build links or anything, having it up and growing as a resource now will allow you to capitalize on it down the road.  If you haven’t started your blog yet, spend the $15 ($10 for a domain name, $5 for hosting) now and get it going.  You won’t regret it.

Traffic Source #4 – Trending Technologies

This one can be tricky, but it shouldn’t cost you much, if anything to do.  What you need to do is keep your ‘ear’ to the ‘ground’ about all the latest websites and technologies online.  Try to get in on them as early as possible, and build up followers.  For example, if you had gotten in on Pintrest before it got huge, you could have had tons of followers from very early on.  Even if you didn’t market to them at first, you would have a gold mine today.

There are always new sites and resources that are opening up on an almost daily basis.  Even if you sign up for a number of them, and they fail, keep going.  You just need one to work out right and you’ll have an amazing traffic source for the rest of your life.  Plus, you can always tell people that ‘you were a member of WHATEVER site, before it got big.’

Now Go Do Something

That’s about it, quick and simple.  None of these methods are any special secret, nor are they hard to implement.  If you can’t take action with this, you’re over thinking it. You won’t get rich sitting around reading about how to get rich, you need to DO SOMETHING, and do it now.
