Super Affiliate Shawn Hogan Sentenced to Federal Prison
As Mal Campbell reported in his blog InternetCodex this morning, and as I predicted last May, Shawn Hogan has been sentenced to 6 months in Federal Prison for his participating in a cookie stuffing scam against eBay that netted over $28 Million.
According to federal documents, that are included below, he must surrender himself on July 14th, 2014 to start his vacation in the federal prison facilities at Lompoc California. After that he will be required to spend an additional 5 months in a group home with other prisoners and then be on supervised release (probation) for another three years.
He will be required to abide by normal rules of probation, including giving DNA samples but because of the special circumstances of his arrest and imprisonment will be required to:
1) Refrain from opening a line of credit or getting a credit card.
2) Provide all financial information to the federal government
3) Allow the feds to search his home and offices at any time.
4) Only use approved computers and ISPs.
So, on July 14th he will start his stay at the luxurious Lompoc federal prison along with other non-violent and drug offenders. This low security prison is often described as “Club Fed” since it has a softball field, soccer field, tennis courts, basketball courts and even a track.
However, life wont be perfect. He will be spending time in a large room with other prisoners in a public dorm facility. While there are other prisoners with similar situations, many are also convicted drug dealers and illegal aliens from outside the US. According to one prisoner who spent time in the same facility:
There was quite a variety of prisoners in Lompoc FCI. There was everything from murderers, who had worked their way down to low security status over the years, to corporate criminals, to ruthless thugs and gang members. I couldn’t believe some of the tattoos some of those guys had. Not only were there guys with their arms sleeved in tattoos, their neck and head would be covered in them too! I even saw guys with tattoos on their face. There was this one Hispanic guy from the 18th St. gang in Los Angeles that had a big “18” on his face, each letter covering half of his face.
One day, fights started breaking out here and there between the Norteños and Sureños. A group of Norteños would jump a Sureño here, some Sureños would jump a Norteño over there; and all of the Norteños were rounded up and confined in solitary confinement for their own protection. Even across the street, at the medium security prison, the two gangs were at war. I think it actually started over there, and word got to our facility about what was happening; so fights started occurring at the FCI as well.
Let’s just say that many prisoners will not be impressed with Shawn Hogan’s status as an internet warrior.
