Amazon To Start Collecting Tax in Nevada

by Pace Lattin2012-04-24

Great news for affiliate and marketers, but not such great news for anyone who just might have moved to Nevada and uses a lot. Amazon has reached an agreement with the State of Nevada to start collecting taxes on Nevada residents.

According to the WSJ

The online retailing company said it will collect taxes in the same manner as traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, an agreement that is expected to raise at least $16 million a year for the state, according to the Las Vegas Sun, which initially reported the news.

This agreement was created in order to stop any possible Affiliate Tax from being passed in the Silver State.  It means that affiliates don’t have to worry about being part of some sort of nexus tax, and having their business shut down.

The number of tax related legal disputes that Amazon is involved with is quite astounding. The leadership team must be being briefed by 10-20 legal teams every day, as I think every state in the US is trying to bring some kind of action against this great online business.
